I Was Glad

A Rice classmate of mine called me up a few years ago and asked me to record his complete works for organ solo. Guess what my answer was.

I Was Glad contains Jeffrey Nytch's TWO transcriptions of the great choral anthem by the same name originally by C.H.H. Parry. One is a straight transcription, and the other is a fluid and rhapsodic Fantasia. Very clever. Then there are Jeff's larger sets Covenants, based on scriptural promises, and Constellations, based on the heavens above. The recording was made on the big Dobson instrument at the University of Dubuque, courtesy the finest hospitality EVER, of professor Chuck Barland and the entire crew of the Heritage Center. The usual überexpertise of producer Keith Weber and engineer and editor Ryan Edwards is under the hood. We Are Glad.
